Imagine a world where you're afraid to be who you are. Where you try to hide what's written in your DNA because you're afraid. Afraid of what your family and friends will think. Afraid that the government will come and take you away. Afraid to go outside.
Every day more and more mutants arrive, their mutations triggered by puberty, by traumatic events. Every day more and more children are afraid to be who they are. And the world around them is doing nothing to help. With the recent election of Simon Trask into the Presidential office and the creation of the Sentinel program in addition to the Mutant Reaction Division, humans are more afraid of mutants then ever. And so are mutants.
But there is hope. For the mutants who believe in superiority, the Acolytes, once lead by such great names as Magneto, as Mystique, offer a beacon of hope, though the world views them as nothing short of terrorists. For the mutants who believe in love, the Xavier Institute, named after Charles Xavier, stands out as the premiere place to go for acceptance.
Magneto is cured. Mystique is dead. Charles Xavier is dead. So where does that leave you?
The Acolytes have once again fallen into the hands of Magneto's children. The Institute is continuing on under the watchful eye of Storm. And all along the sidelines other divisions are popping up. The Mutant Liberation Front, fighting for equality on the political side. X-Factor, a detective agency based in California. X-Force, a brutal Black Ops team fighting for whatever they need to.
But something far more sinister lurks in the shadows, growing stronger every day.
